Like Water for Chocolate (1992, R, 114 min.): Director Alfonso Arau's enchanting film, based on a novel by wife Laura Esquivel, is set in Mexico in the early part of the 20th century. The youngest daughter of a stern mother uses her magical abilities to change people's emotions through the food she cooks.
