Bob Singer Senior Series: Becoming Grandma Gatewood
In 1955, Emma Gatewood decided at age 67 to change her life. She set off determined to hike the Appalachian Trail, thus becoming the first woman to hike the trail solo. As part of All Henrico Reads, actress Anne Van Curen becomes "Grandma Gatewood" in a solo dramatization of Gatewood's experience based on diaries, trail journals, newspapers, and family memories.
