Bridge of Spies with Film Consultant F. Gary Powers, Jr.
Bridge of Spies (2015, PG-13, 142 min.) During the Cold War, the Soviet Union captured U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers after shooting down his U-2 spy plane. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, Powers' only hope is New York lawyer James Donovan (Tom Hanks), recruited by a CIA operative to negotiate his release. Directed by Steven Spielberg and nominated for six Academy Awards, F. Gary Powers, Jr., the pilot's son, consulted on this film. He will join us to discuss separating fact from fiction, talk about being on set, working with cast and crew, and offer a behind the scenes look at what motivated Spielberg to make this movie.
