Henrico Community Authors Showcase

Henrico Community Authors Showcase

Come see Emily Walls Ray, author of Tracks from Tuscaloosa: Collected Short Stories. The likeable women in this short story collection range in ages and stages from young adulthood, to childbearing, juggling career, love, and family relationships, and even saying goodbye. Told with a Southern sensibility, the transitions these characters face take them from the Deep South to places that figure prominently in their stories. Whether they are leaving home, returning home, or trying to find it, they are committed to vitality, truth, love, and a healthy dose of humor to help them on their way. A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Emily W. Ray now lives in Richmond, VA. She served in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a teacher of English and creative writing. Ray earned an MFA in creative writing from Virginia Commonwealth University, an MBA from Mississippi State University, and a BA from The University of Alabama. Her story "Kamsamnida" about her experience in South Korea with the military was published in Richmond Magazine as the winner of a short story contest.
