Historically Speaking: January 1776 with Jon Kukla

Historically Speaking: January 1776 with Jon Kukla

In this VA250 featured program, Jon Kukla, Historian and award-winning author of Patrick Henry: Champion of Liberty, will highlight events occurring during the first weeks of 1776 that shocked and inflamed Virginia patriots to direct their representatives to declare "the United Colonies free and independent States, absolved from all allegiance to, or dependence upon, the Crown or Parliament of Great Britain". Presented in partnership with Henrico Recreation & Parks, History Division, and Richmond National Battlefield Park as part of Benedict Arnold's raid on Richmond events.

This program is offered as part of the library's commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Revolutionary War, and US Independence in the Commonwealth of Virginia. View additional programs in the VA250 series.
